We Mourn the Loss of Dr. David Golden

It is with a heavy heart that Monarch Bay Optometry shares with you the news of the passing of Dr. Kobayashi and Dr. Pennino's dear friend, David B. Golden, OD. Dr. Golden joined his father in optometric practice over 30 years ago and grew the practices to be some of the largest and most successful in Southern California. Dr. Golden was an extraordinary person, gifted with incredible business acumen and enthusiasm for eye care. Beyond his private practices, he was a thought leader in the arena of the eye care business and helped countless optometric practices grow throughout the United States. In spite of his impressive accomplishments and success, Dr. Golden remained humble, happy to be the butt of a self-deprecating joke. He drew everyone in with his magnetic personality and infectious smile. More than that, he treated everyone as family and friends, including his patients. I know he was grateful for the opportunity to serve each and every patient that walked through the doors of Golden Optometric and any of our affiliated offices.  His kindness and generosity are attested to by all who knew him and to say that he will be sorely missed is an understatement. It is our personal mission to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Golden and take up the legacy he has left behind.

Dr. Golden is survived by his dear wife, Sheila, and beautiful daughters, Cassidy and Erin, of who he was incredibly proud. On behalf of the family, thank you to so many of you who made caring inquiries, sent notes of encouragement, and expressed loving support during Dr. Golden’s battle with cancer. Your thoughtfulness is priceless and deeply appreciated.
